White Oak? More Like Green Oak!

I'm late saying this by about a month, but suddenly, all the trees
have leaves again and it is once again impossible to see anything off
in the distance for that very reason. I now remember why I was so
disoriented when I first got out here, though by this point, I'm kinda
used to it (9 and a half months does that to a person).

I am continuing to love it here in White Oak! This week has flown by!
It's amazing how much faster days go by when there is actually stuff
to do (that and we automatically have two hours of our day driving
Elder Thorpe to and from the mission office...)! Most of this week was
spent attempting to familiarize ourselves with the area and getting in
contact with the people that the previous elders had been working
with. It's been going pretty well thus far! We've been able to get a
hold of most of the people in our teaching pool! Actually being able
to meet with them however... A bit of a different story... We have
however had some success! Nothing notable to report as of yet, but
hopefully by this time next week, that will have changed!

In other news, I now understand why missionaries who go
Spanish-speaking now gain weight on their missions... We went to a
lunch appointment with our roommates (Spanish elders) on Tuesday and
an hour appointment ended up being more like two hours because
whenever we finished eating whatever was in front of us, the person
would say (in Spanish, so this is how the other guys interpreted it)
"oh, you are leaving already? But I just finished cutting up this
melon for you!" For several more rounds until all of felt like we were
about to explode! I'm very grateful to them for their generosity,
though I don't think I could survive the Spanish program...

Last night was the Why I Believe fireside. The speaker was Sandra
Turley, a singer who played Cosette in Les Mis on Broadway for a
while! She sang a couple of musical numbers along with her family and
it was AWESOME! Basically, the music nerd in me was freaking out the
whole time! It was great! I love music so much! It is my favorite way
to feel of the Spirit and feel of our Heavenly Father's love!

I love you all! Have a great week!

Sincerely,
Elder Sam Williams
