Baptisms, Singing, and More Baptisms (Though Not Quite in that Order)!

Welcome back to the White Plains Chronicles with your host, Elder Sam-diggity Williams!

Most of this week was spent in preparation for this weekend, but before I relate the events of those fateful days, a few other things happened first!

One such thing occurred on Thursday. We decided to go through our list of potential investigators in an attempt to figure out who was still interested and hadn't been contacted in a while and while doing so, we found a woman named Virgie, who had once upon a time been a bible referral who we decided to check on, and while we were visiting with her, she accepted a copy of the Book of Mormon and set up a time for us to come back and teach her more about it and Jospeh Smith! Hopefully update on how that went this next week! He also gave us the address of her daughter and asked that we visit with her and share the Book of Mormon with her as well! So that's, pretty exciting!

Now the big news for this week: Evan, Lilly, and Jaelyn all got baptized with weekend (Evan and Lilly also got confirmed the next day during sacrament meeting!!)!!! The baptismal services were all awesome and super spiritual (Jaelyn's was especially cool for me since the first time I was in the area, I taught her mom when she was baptized and started teaching her as well, so it has been awesome to see her spiritual journey and progression over the last several months and see how the Lord has blessed and softened her heart!). Of course, as with all baptisms, something worrisome has to happen immediately beforehand and these were no exception. On Saturday morning, we started to fill the font for Evan and Lilly's baptism and realized very quickly that something was wrong as the room began to smell very poignantly of sulfur... we spent the next hour or so cleaning the font (and the pipes as much as was possible) until we eventually had to fill up the font and shock it with some chlorine (though fortunately, it wasn't enough to hinder the ability of someone to be baptized in it) and the smell and filth was dealt with! It also meant that filling the font and preparing for Jaelyn's baptism the next day went without incident! Either way, I am so happy for all three of them and their decision to follow Christ!

The other huge thing that happened this weekend was that last night at Why I Believe, I had the opportunity to sing a solo! I sang "Savior Redeemer of My Soul" with piano and oboe accompaniment. It went pretty well and the Spirit was very much there! I love having to opportunity to bear my testimony through the gift of music that I've been given! And though I'm not at all perfect (there were a few notes that I wasn't super proud of...), the Lord is still able to use me as an instrument to help His children feel of His love! I'm especially grateful for how the performance went since the week leading up to it, I had been kinda sick (mostly just congested) and therefore my voice was kinda suffering all week, but the Lord blessed me that my voice started to come back a few hours before the fireside!

This has been a week of many wonderful things! I love you all and hope that y'all have a fantastically wonderful week!

Sincerely,
Elder Sam Williams
