August 17, 2015

Hey Y'all,

I head out to DC bright-and-early tomorrow morning. Because of this, my laundry time is today and therefore I am sending this email (no idea when my P-day will be once I get out there other than that I'm probably missing it this week).

Note that I have a bunch of pictures to send that are currently on other people's cameras. I will send them as soon as I get them.

So right after I closed last week's email, I met a sister in my zone named Sister Williams, who could very well be related to me (not sure how or how closely though as the only evidence I have of this is that her family is from the town right next to Price). I also talked to a Sister Harris from Snowflake (originally from Mesa) who I actually met on a choir tour my Sophomore year. "Small World" apparently.

Tuesday evening, I had the opportunity to sing in the MTC choir for a devotional with Elder Grow from the First Quorum of the Seventy. He gave a wonderful talk on serving with all your heart, might, mind and strength, which was great. Alst because I happened to be sitting in the first row, after the meeting, he came up and shook my hand and talked to me for a bit, which was pretty awesome!

So I take back my comment about the MTC and Kolob... This last week has gone by SUPER fast! It's mostly been lots of lessons and scripture study, which has been a super spiritual experience! Though that being said, I am excited to head out to the field tomorrow. I will say though that I haven't had any infamous "MTC guilt" at all, so I guess that's a good sign :P.

On Sunday, I got to sing backup (along with like 1000 other missionaries, but it sounds cooler if I just say that I got to :P) to the Nashville Tribute Band as they gave a special musical devotional/concert thing. For those of you who don't know what the Nashville Tribute  Band is (which is understandable as I had no idea who they were either), they are an all-LDS country/gospel band from Nashville, Tennessee. They are actually pretty awesome! Though the last song they sang, titled "The Hardest Thing I Ever Learned to Love", a song about one of the member of the band's mission, made almost everyone in the audience (Including myself) start crying by the end of the song (it's a good song, but a MAJOR tear-jerker)... It really makes me excited to be able to serve the people of Washington, DC.

After the devotional, I watched a recording of now President Nelson's Christmas Day devotional titled "the Doctrine of Christ". As I said with the Bednar devotional, if there is any way for y'all to watch it, I would HIGHLY recommend it.

As I think I said last week, I now know more than ever before that our Heavenly Father loves each and every one of us more than we can even comprehend and that he has restored his gospel on the earth through the prophet Joseph Smith. The Book of Mormon is true and is the most amazing/wonderful/correct book ever written. That knowledge makes me excited to be able to serve the people of my mission and bring them the knowledge of the restored gospel and the happiness that comes with that knowledge.

I love you all. God be with you 'till we meet again.

Sincerely,

Elder Williams
