Greetings from Maryland!
Living here has really made me gain an appreciation for how beautiful
fall is. It is amazing to look out at the trees and see so many
different colors in the leaves. I've gained such an appreciation for
the beauty of God's creations while out here! Though now as we get
closer to the winter months, about half of the trees have lost their
leaves and the other ones are soon to follow. It's actually quite
interesting to see the millions of trees that once prevented any sort
of view of anything so barren. Though it is nice to be able to see
more than 100 feet in any direction again.
After that rant (I can't believe that I just talked about trees for
that long...), on to talking about my week!
Tuesday, we had the opportunity to help set up Christmas lights at the
DC temple. It was a lot of fun, but a LOT of work. The five of us
(four Elders and the head gardener for the temple) worked non-stop for
about four hours and we managed to completely wrap two trees! It
really gave me an appreciation for how much work goes into putting the
whole thing together!
Wednesday, all of the Elders in the mission (and the departing
sisters) got to go to the temple and do a session. I love the temple
so much! There truly is no place like it! I feel that through it, I've
been strengthened so much spiritually! The temple truly is the Lord's
house! (Also after going, I got some pictures with me and Elders Hill
and Archibald in front of the temple).
Transfer calls came on Saturday. Of the four Elders in my apartment,
I'm the only one who is NOT leaving Laurel! I'm excited to be able to
spend at least another six weeks up here! I'm also excited to see who
my new companion and roommates will be (hopefully I will have
roommates at least). It'll be interesting to see what the Lord has in
store this next transfer!
Yesterday, LUCIE GOT CONFIRMED!!! It was awesome! I know I say this a
lot, but the Spirit was so powerful in that meeting! I know that this
truly is the Lord's work and that the church is true! I've seen the
love of God made manifest so many times while here and I've only been
out for just over three months! I know that we have a loving Heavenly
Father who wants us to return to Him some day and will lead us and
guide us back to Him if we will rely on Him and the Atonement of His
Son, Jesus Christ!
I love you all! Have a fantastic week! More information about my
companion and roommates to come next week!
Sincerely,
Elder Sam Williams
