The Laurel Massacre of 2015

¡Hola!

That's right, I'm trilingual now!

Also, I'm officially finished with being trained! Which means that I
CAN DRIVE NOW!! Also, that's one less meeting I have to go to every
week. But more importantly, I CAN DRIVE NOW!!!

Last Tuesday was spent putting up more lights for the visitor's center
(that is, until we got rained out), eating lunch at Sister Mays's
house (and because I'm "smart" I ate another scotch bonnet... It
surprisingly wasn't as bad the second time), and sitting
around/cleaning while the other Elders packed.

On Wednesday, our little apartment group was broken up. Elder
Archibald (or should I say, Dalton) finished his mission and is now
home in Pleasant Grove, Elder Hill went Zone Leader and is now in the
College Park Ward, and Elder Bentley got transferred to the Durwood
Ward. In their place, my new companion is Elder Carroll from Draper (I
think that's how you spell that...), Utah! He actually got to the
mission the same time as I did, which is pretty cool! He is also very
motivated, a super hard worker, and an all around awesome guy! Our
roommates are leftover food and the Holy Ghost. Meaning, we are now in
charge of covering the whole Laurel Ward! Which just means that we
really have to rely on hard work and the Spirit (especially the
Spirit) to make sure both areas stay "afloat". It's seemed like a
pretty daunting task at first, but I've already seen NUMEROUS times
just in this past week where the Lord has blessed us to be able to
stay on top of things.

One such occasion was Thursday night. We were driving somewhere to see
if we could visit some people who said they might be interested in
meeting with us and I got lost. By the time I found where we were, I
realized that we were nowhere near where the people lived but that we
WERE right next to where Ann lives. So we drove over to her home and
knocked on her door, only to find that she had JUST gotten home from
work maybe five minutes earlier. Whilst we were talking to her, we
discovered that she had been reading from the Book of Mormon, had
prayed and gotten a confirmation that it was true and that Joseph
Smith was a prophet of God, AND had watched basically all of General
Conference. Not only that, but her husband also really wants to start
meeting with us as well!

I testify that miracles DO happen, that this work is led by a Heavenly
Father who loves His children and guides us so that we may return to
live with Him again!

Our days for the last half week or so have consisted of driving to
check on all of the investigators and potentials in both areas to get
me familiar with the Eastern part of the Ward and Elder Carroll
acquainted with everything here. We've already seen quite a few fruits
of that thus far.

The other big news of this week is that I was able to sing at "Why I
Believe" yesterday (Sunday)! It was an amazing experience! I a, super
grateful to my Heavenly Father for blessing me with the gift of music
that I may testify of my love for Him through song! While there, I ran
into my aunt and uncle Rasband, who serve in the DC South mission,
which pretty much made my night!

I just want to testify again that I know our Heavenly Father and His
Son, Jesus Christ, live and that They love each and every one of us
and through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, we are able to return to
live with our Heavenly Father some day!

I love you all! Have an amazing week!

Sincerely,
Elder Sam Williams
