It's official, this child of the desert has now been in snow fall! It
didn't end up sticking to the ground because it was too warm outside,
but it was snow nonetheless!
This week was pretty much the week of exchanges. On Wednesday, Elder
Sorensen went up to the Capital Ward and Elder Lee (was in the MTC
with me) came down to White Plains with me. It was a good experience.
Though we didn't end up having a ton of appointments that day so we
ended up driving out to the southern-most part of our area to check on
a list of people that the bishop and relief society president had
requested that we check on.
On Friday we went on exchange with the Traveling Trainers so Sorensen
once again left and I stayed with Elder Patchett (he is from Mesa as
well and went to Mountain View. He was in Chorale with me my Junior
year. So that was cool to be able to catch up with him). That exchange
was a ton of fun and a super educational experience for me!
We (or rather, the Spirit) convinced Ashley to bear her testimony at
Why I Believe (which was yesterday) so we ended up stopping by her
place a lot over the course of the week to help her prepare because
after it sunk in what she had agreed to do, she kinda freaked out and
wasn't too happy with us, to say the least. Even to the point that she
was planning on egging us as payback after all was said and done...
Well she ended up doing amazing and the Spirit was powerful as she
bore her testimony! Plus, after she calmed down from the whole thing,
she decided that she didn't want to egg us anymore (which is always a
bonus)!
Jamie continues to be absolutely amazing to teach! While I was on
exchange with Elder Patchett, we had our second appointment with her
and "taught" her the Plan of Salvation. "Taught" is in quotes because
she basically knew almost all of it already through her own reading in
the Book of Mormon and her conversations with her fiancé. As it was
last time, the Spirit was sooooo powerful during the lesson! Ashley
and her had met during Jamie's first week at church and in that time
had already become super good friends so Ashley was in the lesson with
us and had the opportunity to bear a wonderful testimony on the
Atonement and the comfort that it brings!
If I haven't said it before I'll say it now, I love, love, LOVE this
area! The people here are all super awesome which makes me want to
work even harder! The church is true! I love you all! Have an amazing
week!
Sincerely,
Elder Sam Williams
