Legos, Pi day, and Everything in Between

Happy Pi Day all you math geeks and Happy Pie Day all you people who
like circular desserts! I'm personally in the latter party.

If I was ever elected into some world-wide policy-making counsel, my
first proposition would be to abolish daylight savings time.
Meanwhile, everyone in Arizona is wondering what I'm talking about
(and you are all the more blessed for it).

On a more positive note, this was a pretty good week! On Tuesday,
Elder Summit (the district leader) and I went on exchange for the day
to the 1st Ward and that was pretty fun!

In other news, the weather here randomly decided to jump up about 30
degrees, thus putting an end to the winter. Though I'm hoping that the
weather will stay where it is now (60's and 70's) for a long time,
because the sooner that the weather gets hot, the more not fun my
summer will be...

Wednesday was Elder Talbot's 19th birthday so for dinner, we all went
to the Bordon's (a family in the 1st Ward) for dinner, which was a ton
of fun!

Thursday during zone-district meeting, Sister Cooke (mission
president's wife) came in and told us that all of the missionaries in
my mission were asked to be ushers during the DC Cherry Blossom
Festival Parade! Which is awesome! I'm super excited for the
opportunity to participate in the festival and be practically right in
the middle of the action! It's on April 16th.

On Saturday, we got to do service for Brother Palmer, a member of our
Ward. He is planning on doing a full renovation of his basement in the
coming months. The only issue is that his basement is home to a TON of
super intricate Lego figurines that needed to be deconstructed and
sorted into bags so he could rebuild them when he finished renovation.
Which was where we came in. So basically, we got to spend several
hours dismantling Legos and visiting with him, which was a very
different, yet fun, service project. We'll be back over there in
subsequent weeks to help with packing/demolition/construction/other
fun stuff like that!

Later on Saturday, we got to go up to the Temple with Scott, one of
the relatively recent converts in our Ward, to do baptisms for the
dead and it was an AMAZING experience for him! He felt the Spirit so
powerfully! I am so grateful for the opportunity that we have to have
temples in these, the Latter Days! I know that through the temple, we
are able to grow so much closer to our Heavenly Father; to feel of His
love, receive revelation from Him and to provide the blessings of the
temple to those who did not have that opportunity!

I know that this church is true! I hope you all have an amazing week!

Sincerely,
Elder Sam Williams
