Well They Sure Dropped the Ball on That One

Greetings ladies, gentlemen, and humans everywhere (though non-humans are welcome to read this too, I'm not judging)!

This week has flown by like crazy! I can hardly believe that I once again find myself at p-day! This week has also been a bit of a rollercoaster (which y'all will see why momentarily)!

Tuesday night, we met with Lawan and her two sons Laron and Lawrence. We taught her the Restoration and the lesson went SUPER well! The spirit was very powerful and they were all super accepting of the message and had been reading the Book of Mormon and loving it! Unfortunately, Virgie was not able to be there because she had to get some rest before going to work the next day, but it was still a great lesson nonetheless!

On Wednesday, we began the new member lessons with Lilly, Evan, and Jaelyn! They continue to be awesome and very knowledgeable about the gospel!

Thursday was interviews with President and Sister Johnson, which went pretty well. Apparently President is getting a ton of flack from missionaries about the rule changes so he spent most of our interview trying to convince me that he's not an evil jerk (which I never thought that he was, so it was kinda amusing to see, I definitely don't envy him right now though...) so there's that.

Story time! Last time I was in White Plains, we had a referral named Damian that we contacted and gave a copy of the Bible and Book of Mormon then completely lost contact with. Well next to Damian's house, there was another house kinda in the middle of nowhere that I felt like I should knock on the door of, and I didn't. This has been bugging me for the past 6 or 7 months and this week, I finally went back and knocked on the door! And as it turns out they were... not interested at all and wouldn't even accept a copy of the Book of Mormon... on the bright side though, we were able to actually reestablish contact with Damian and while he hasn't read the Book of Mormon, he said that seeing us reminded him that he had it and that he'd take a look at it, so we can only hope that the purpose of that prompting was so we would get back in contact with him!

Right after the incident mentioned directly above, we received a call from Lawan telling us that she didn't want to meet with us anymore... we think she got anti'd by someone, which stinks... we also haven't been able to get in contact with Virgie since then (other than a text saying that she wouldn't be at church and that she'd call us later) so hopefully she's still good! It's always hard seeing someone who appears to be super prepared to receive the gospel and wants to be baptized and all of that good stuff turn away from that truth and the witness they've received because of one reason or another. We let her know that if she ever wants to meet with us again that she has our number so hopefully some time soon, her heart will be softened and she will be willing to accept the Gospel again!

This weekend was General Conference, which was amazing as always! Unfortunately all of our plans kinda fell through for one reason or another so we watched most of the sessions at the church (though our roommates did get us invited to watch one of the sessions with them at a member's house in their Ward, which was a ton of fun!) but that doesn't change the fact that conference was great! I love being able to receive guidance and direction from God's prophets and apostles that are on the earth today! It truly is wonderful!

And that's about it for me this week! I love you all and hope that you have a fantastic week!

Sincerely,
Elder Sam Williams
