Seventy Songs for Seventy Tours

Season's Greetings Everyone!

This has been a very interesting week to be sure!  It actually started
with last week when Sister Johnson texted us and asked if I'd be able
to sing for Elder Clark of the Seventy during his mission tour that
was this last week. She requested a Christmas song and since I had
gotten my binder of sheet music from home (Thanks Mom, I love you!)
literally that day, I was able to suggest that I sing the Josh Groban
arrangement of "O Holy Night" which Sister Johnson was just thrilled
with and told me to send a copy of the music over to the Sister who
would be playing the piano for me.

The process of doing so, then in actually performing the song were
hindered by two problems: one being that the arrangement is in the key
of B Major (which is really hard for pianist to play), which was
fortunately solved fairly easily because I was able to find the song
transposed into C Major (much easier for pianists) and send it over to
her. This did cause another problem though: Doing so, meant that I had
to sing the song slightly higher than was originally intended, pushing
it right where my break used to be, which ended up not being too much
of a problem as my voice has become much higher since I've been out.
This did become a bit of a bigger problem about two days before the
conference though because I got sick with the dreadful malady knows
as... THE COMMON COLD *insert dramatic sound effect here*...

Our brave hero found himself in quite the pickle, until Ashley, one of
the recent converts in the Ward and resident life-saver caught wind of
my plight (am I being dramatic enough yet?) and informed me of a
product known as Cold-eze, which is probably the most magical and
heaven-sent cold-battling product I think I'd ever bought in my life!
Although I was still a little under the weather come Friday (when the
Elder Clark Tour was), the cold was much subdued and I was able to
sing with much vim and vigor (and I think I did a pretty good job
considering the circumstances)! And thus, Christmas was saved! (Or
something like that)

The other majorly notable event that occurred this week is that on the
evening prior to the conference, we were playing basketball with a
bunch of nonmembers and Elder Hunt, in an effort to rebound a ball,
ended up landing with a *POP* then falling to the ground with another
*POP* injuring his ankle quite badly. Fortunately, it's not broken
(only moderately sprained)! Unfortunately, we had to spend all of
Friday after the conference, basically all day Saturday, and basically
all day Sunday on bed rest... He is feeling way better now, but the
mission doctor still wants him to take it easy until he can go to an
orthopedic specialist and make sure he didn't break or fracture
anything, which is fun.

And with my two very dramatic stories related, that about does it for
me this week! I love you all! Have a fantastic week/day/what have you!

Sincerely,
Elder Sam Williams
