Accidental Obedience to the Word of Wisdom

Hello everyone!

I hope you all had a wonderful experience watching General Conference,
because I know that I did! It truly is awesome to be able to hear the
word of God though modern-day prophets and Apostles!

Last Monday, we had our District Activity. We played Volleyball, did
an Easter egg hunt, had an egg toss and chilled. It was really fun!

The other big thing of note that happened this week was that we were
able to once again visit with Sister Tayo and her kids. We were able
to teach them the Plan of Salvation (which they loved, this is made
even better by the fact that the first session of conference (which
they watched) heavily involved the Plan of Salvation!) and answer a
bunch of questions they had about the church. One of which was that
Sister Tayo asked what some of the "rules" were in our church, to
which we brought up the Ten Commandments and briefly explained the
Word of Wisdom, which actually caused her to provide a super cool
experience that she'd had. In short, Sister Tayo used to LOVE coffee
and drink it all the time, until about a little over a month ago when
suddenly whenever she'd drink coffee, she would feel her throat
closing as if it was rejecting the coffee. She went to a few doctors
and none of them could explain what was going on, especially since it
was only happening with coffee. Therefore, she decided that she would
stop drinking coffee from that point on. As it turns out, her
inability to drink coffee lined up exactly with when she first started
coming to church! Meaning she started following the word of wisdom
(because nothing else in it was a problem for her) without even
realizing it! Which is super cool!

Unfortunately, Tayo is leaving to go to Nigeria for the whole month of
April to visit with family. However, she asked for a bunch of copies
of the Book of Mormon to take with her and give out to family and
friends while she is there! Which is awesome! Her and her kids already
have a strong testimony that the church is true and are excited to be
baptized come May! I only pray that they will continue to progress as
such and see the great blessings that will bring to their lives! I
also really hope that I will still be here to see them be baptized as
transfers are this week. I really hope I stay, but we shall see what
the Lord has in store for me!

Until then, I love you all! Have a fantastic week!

Sincerely,
Elder Sam Williams
