After X amount of weekly emails, it gets rather difficult not using
the same greeting a ton...
One of the biggest things that happened this week is that we had
transfers. The result of which is that Talbot and myself are still
together and still in Laurel (for those keeping track, that will put
me at 7 1/2 months in Laurel in total and 4 1/2 months with Talbot).
I'm super excited to be here another transfer and especially excited
that now I will be able to be here for Tayo and her kids' baptism in
May! I'm also very excited to continue serving the people here in the
Laurel Ward!
Speaking of Tayo, she is now in Nigeria visiting family until the
beginning of next month, but hopefully she continues to do
fantastically while there!
Thursday, we had Zone Training, during which a huge storm hit the area
including a tornado warning and decent sized hail. Fortunately, we
were inside for the whole storm and (as you can gather from the fact
that I'm writing this email) we weren't hit by the tornado! Though it
was pretty amusing to see everyone freak out for a bit!
The other big occurrence this week was the National Cherry Blossom
Festival Parade during which (just like last year) all of the
missionaries in the mission got to volunteer at. Unlike last year,
where I was a balloon carrier, this year Elder Talbot and I were
ushers who's duty it was to check the tickets of people in our
section, point people in the right direction, and get photographed by
random Asian tourists. Like legit, I don't even know how many times I
would look around and see someone with a camera taking a picture of
Talbot and I. Or (even weirder) have some random stranger walk up to
us and take a selfie with us. It was truly a strange experience...
other than that though, the parade went awesomely and we got to talk
to/help a lot of people, which was really cool (and we got interviewed
by some random local news station so we're basically celebrities now).
Overall, a very awesome, yet tiring, day!
Other than that, we are continuing to try and shrink our pool of
referrals (still) and are praying that many of them are as awesome as
the referral claims them to be.
That's about all from me this week! I love you all and hope you all
have an amazing week!
Sincerely,
Elder Sam Williams
