One Confirmed Kill

Hey hello howdy hey! (Maybe if I keep using various greetings, I'll
seem friendlier)

This week turned out to be pretty interesting and awesome! Monday
night, we were sitting around in our apartment wondering what to do
for proselyting hours when suddenly, we got a call from, Sonia, asking
us to come over as soon as possible and help her and Scott with some
yard work. It turns out that we ended up spending the rest of the
night there as she invited us to have dinner with them and share a
quick spiritual thought with them! It was awesome being able to
finally teach them after almost a transfer of trying to set an
appointment up! They even invited us to come by that next Wednesday to
help out with some other stuff and share another message with them!

Tuesday was spent visiting brother Swarzak and chilling so Harrison
could pack up to go home.

On Wednesday, the deed was done and Thorpe and I said goodbye to
("killed") Elder Harrison. As it turns out, President Cooke wants to
get rid of the office elder position, therefore Thorpe and I are
staying together without being in a trio and in order to phase out
going to the office, we only go to the office two times a week and
spend the rest of our time proselyting! Which I'm super happy about!
Though the time we do spend at the office is fun. Thorpe does his
financial secretary stuff and I lift heavy objects and do the jobs no
one else wants to do, which is actually pretty fun! Though I am glad
it's not a daily job!

That evening, we went over to Sonia's again, helped her with more
house work, and once again had dinner and a lesson with them. The
lesson turned out really well and the spirit was very powerful, I even
felt the conversation shifting towards challenging all five of them to
baptism, until Andrew, her oldest son started insulting people in the
middle of the lesson. It turns out that Sonia's ex-husband is kinda a
scum bag and has convinced the son that his mom is evil and that he
needs to make her life miserable until she snaps and the dad gets an
excuse to call CPS on her to take away the kids (she has full custody
currently, I don't think the dad even has visitation). It's a really
sad situation and I just hope that things will work out for them and
that the spirit will soften his heart and help them come together as a
family! I know that the Spirit has the power to do that as long as
they are willing to accept His message and follow Christ!

Thursday was the first zone-district meeting of the transfer and to
celebrate, I made no-bake cookies for the district, which were very
well received! After that, we met with Brother Swarzak again (we read
Alma 7 with him, which was great!), and I made dinner for the
apartment as a "happy new transfer!" Celebration thing. It turned out
really well actually (pictures included because why not). That night,
Thorpe and I decided to go around and try to get in contact with some
people that we hadn't been able to meet with for a while. As we did
so, we finally got in contact with Igor, a recent convert who was
confirmed the week before we got in the area and then vanished off the
face of the earth. Turns out, he has been super busy with work and had
been all over the place until just before we stopped by! We were able
to reteach him the Restoration and ended up having a super spiritual
discussion with him about our Heavenly Father's love and the blessings
of the priesthood (since getting the Aaronic priesthood is the next
step for him).

On Saturday morning, Celine, who we hadn't been able to get in contact
with the last few weeks, called as and asked us if we were able to
come by that night and visit with her. Therefore, that night, we got
to visit with Celine and share with her the Gospel of Jesus Christ,
which (and I know I say this a LOT about almost everyone) was EXACTLY
what she needed to hear at that very moment to help and strengthen
her. This gave me another confirmation that the Gospel truly is the
word of God that is given to us from a loving Heavenly Father to bless
all of His children if we will just listen to the Spirit and follow
Him!

Yesterday night was Why I Believe. President Cooke and his family
spake as a "last hoorah" before they leave at the end of the month.
I've loved having President Cooke as my mission president and will
miss him very much, though I am also excited to be able to meet
President Johnson and serve under him for a little more than the
second half of my mission!

I love you all! Have a fantastic week!

Sincerely,
Elder Sam Williams
