'Merica, Johnsons, and Grillin'!

Greetings from the land of Mary!

I hope you all had a good week! I know I did!

Last Monday was, of course, the 4th of July! As such, it was a
non-proselyting day, so we spent most of the day chilling and doing
whatever "p-day" stuff we could still do since it was still that... We
did go to a Ward pancake breakfast, which was really fun! We got a
picture with one of the Ward members who is a former Marine, which was
awesome! We were going to go to a fireworks show at a school by our
apartment, but the show was canceled due to rain... Oh well...

Tuesday, the entire office staff went up to Annapolis to greet the
missionaries and left Elder Thorpe and I fe d for ourselves and answer
the phones. It was pretty fun, yet stressful to have two people doing
the job of four. The office didn't burn down though, so we managed
pretty well!

On Thursday, my zone had zone conference with the Johnsons. We were
able to introduce ourselves and see a video that they made of their
children and grandchildren talking about them. President also announce
a couple of changes that he was making to the mission right out. So
far, all that's being changed is that he wants all of us to do our
weekly planning sessions on Thursday mornings and memorize a new
scripture each week. The Johnsons seem super cool though and I'm very
excited to get to know them and serve under them! (Picture of Silver
Spring Zone and the Johnsons included)

Saturday, all of our appointments bailed on us... So we used the free
time as an opportunity to walk around and contact a couple of the
referrals that live close to our apartment (that are dangerous to
drive to due to towing) and in doing so, we ended up getting three new
investigators because all of the people we talked to ended up being
interested in hearing more and set up times for us to stop by this
week! I know that Heavenly Father is truly in charge of this work and
as long as we try to serve him, he will provide a way for us to find
those whom he has prepared to hear His message!

Today, we had our zone activity! We played a bunch of water games and
had a burger and hotdog grill! It was a ton of fun and the burgers
were grilled by yours truly (not to brag or anything, but they were
pretty fantastically amazing!)!

This week is looking like it it'll be another amazing one, so I'm
excited for that! I love you all and I hope all of you have a
fantastic week!

Sincerely,
Elder Sam Williams
