No Hablo Español! Also, New President and Annapolis!

Hey all!

Happy 4th of July to all of you! I hope it is an amazing one! I feel
so blessed to have been born and raised in this amazing country and to
have the privilege of serving in and around the nation's Capitol!

This was actually a super productive week! We ended up getting the
most lessons that I've ever gotten in an area other than White Plains
(which doesn't count because that area is different), despite being in
the office for a bit!

A lot happened, but here are some of the biggest highlights:

On Wednesday, we visited with Sonia and her family and as we decided
that we would, we invited Sonia to be baptized! Better yet, SHE
ACCEPTED. Due to some traveling that she'll be doing in the middle of
this month, her date isn't until late August, but I'm still super
excited for her to be able to progress towards and receive the
blessings of baptism! I know it will be a great blessing to her and
her family!

Friday, because Thorpe is the district leader and needs to go on
exchanges, Elder Pesantes (roommate) wanted to see what the office is
like, and I wanted to bike/get out of the office, I went on exchange
with my Spanish roommates. As such, I got to spend the day biking
around with Elder Robledo (which I was happy about because I enjoy
biking and got kinda jipped only spending one transfer in bike),
showing him around the area (since he's new to the area(my area covers
their whole area and then some)) and "teaching" in English and
Spanish. One thing I learned from the experience: I really should have
taken Spanish in High School as I was pretty useless whenever we were
in a Spanish appointment, except for during one of them, a drunk guy
who spoke slurred and thickly accented English kept going off about
how Trump is apparently the First Horseman of the Apocalypse and how
El Salvador has changed to the US Dollar, which means the Second
Coming is nigh... Or something like that...

Meanwhile, Elders Thorpe and Pesantes got to meet the new mission
president, President Johnson. According to Elder Thorpe, he is awesome
and the mission is in very good hands, which is exciting! Also during
that time, the boundaries of the mission were changed! My mission
picked up the Annapolis stake, which gives us all of Annapolis over to
the Eastern border of Maryland, up to part of Southern Baltimore,
which is crazy! We also picked up a bunch of extra missionaries as
well. It's pretty exciting, but I'm hoping to spend most, if not all,
of my mission in the original 4 stakes still (since I'm almost halfway
through my mission as is (11 months tomorrow))!

Brother Swarzak continues to do well, he made sure we got him a ride
because he didn't hear the people who came to pick him up so he missed
church and he was really upset about that, so that's a good sign!

Once again, I love being a missionary and being able to see the
blessings of the Gospel on people's lives! I love you all! Have an
amazing week and an amazing rest of your Independence Day!

Sincerely,
Elder Sam Williams
