Fun stuff: having the largest English area in the mission
Not fun stuff: having the largest English area in the mission without
a functioning car for a week
Which sums up a good chunk of the week pretty well. It all began last
Sunday... we were driving home from dinner when suddenly our car's
temperature monitor reads that it is almost overheating accompanied by
the smell of overheating engine that I know all too well thanks to my
good friend Cassie (name of my truck back home that overheated a lot).
Fortunately, it cooled back down and didn't explode on us! But it
continued to do this on Monday and Tuesday. During which we discovered
that the car was leaking coolant and so we had to take the car to a
dealership to get it fixed (we took it to a repair shop but they
didn't have the part) and thus, starting on Wednesday, we had no
car...
Fortunately, most of the second half of our week was occupied with
meetings! On Thursday, we had zone conference, during which, we talked
a lot about teaching the Plan of Salvation. The Johnsons had two
companionship's come up and role-play the lesson for the entire zone
and Elder Hunt and I were two of the poor suckers... err... "lucky
individuals" that were selected to do so. I also was selected to
perform a special musical number during the conference, so apparently
it was the "Conference of Williams" or something (recoding of song
included. The song is titled "My Kindness Shall not Depart From Thee"
it is by Rob Gardner, the same person that arranged the version of
"Savior Redeemer of My Soul" that everyone likes so much).
Friday, I FINALLY GOT TO ATTEND THE TEMPLE AGAIN! After about five
months of being unable to, I was able to go to the temple with my
zone! Which was awesome! I love the temple so much! It truly is the
House of the Lord and the Spirit there is soooooo strong!
Basically all day Saturday was spent doing service with Adam, a member
of the Ward (who is awesome, by the way). We were helping him move a
bunch of stuff out of his landlord's house, which was quite fun and
she was super grateful for that and was a positive interaction with
the church for her!
Yesterday during Sacrament meeting, I sang yet another musical number!
The Ward music person had me sing "A Poor Wayfaring Man of Grief"
which also went super well and the Spirit was felt by everyone in
attendance! I love being able to use the gift of music that the Lord
has given me to testify of the gospel and help others feel the Spirit!
I love you all and hope you have a fantastic week! Hopefully I will be
getting my car back tomorrow to allow the work to proceed down here
once more!
Sincerely,
Elder Sam Williams
