Inaugural Drama Llamas (I Lose My Samoan...)

Hello everyone from the Capitol Hill! Before I continue any further I
must disclaim that contrary to what the title of the email claims,
this email is 100% llama free... now with that out of the way, let us
begin!

This whole week was kinda weird, between having my first district
meeting as part of the Anacostia District, thinking that we were going
to go on exchange to get out of the city, then not actually getting
taken out of the city, but instead being stuck inside for two days,
then having to help Tausaga pack and saying goodbye to him as of about
30 minutes ago, things have been crazy!

A lot of our appointments ended up falling through so we spent a lot
of time contacting, which sadly did not yield any fruits as of yet.
Other than that, Inauguration was on Friday, so we weren't allowed to
leave our apartment (don't worry, the riots were on the opposite side
of the city from me. Though the freeway that was blocked by anti-Trump
protesters marching across it was literally right outside my window,
so that was fun to watch). Saturday, we were allowed to leave, but
after having lunch over at a member's house and seeing the state
things were in for the women's march (just on the walk to and from the
member's home, we got more than our fair share of angry looks, 'twas
fun), we decided that it would be best for us to stay inside the rest
of the day.

On Sunday, we had Suitland Stake Conference, which was really cool.
The Stake President talked a lot about helping returned missionaries
stay active, which was a really good talk to hear and keep in mind a
few months from now. After that, we walked Michael (a recent convert,
who is stuck in a wheelchair) back to his home and headed home so that
Tausaga could pack his bags and get ready to go.

Today, Elder Talbot and I said farewell to our Samoan friend as he was
picked up by another set of missionaries to head up to the mission
office to prep for a knee surgery tomorrow. We will miss him very
much! It was truly an honor to serve with him. This also means that
Talbot and I are now effectively whitewashing Capitol Hill South
(whitewash number 4.5 on my mission so far. The Lord really likes
having me whitewash area for some reason... Also, for the record, this
brings my mission kill-count up to 3).

Tune in next week to hear how mine and Talbot's whitewashing exploits
go and to find out if DC has burned to the ground by that point or
not! I love you all! Have a great week!

Sincerely,
Elder Sam Williams
