The Newest of the Years!

Happy New Year everyone!

The biggest highlight of the week is definitely that we were able to
meet Desiree (the person I mentioned last week that is the
daughter-in-law of a family in my Ward, was taught pretty much all of
the lessons in North Carolina before having to move back up here to
Maryland, and wants to be baptized) and it was pretty awesome! We
don't have a date set with her yet, but she is very excited and super
prepared to be baptized and I feel very honored to have the
opportunity to finish helping her come unto Christ and be baptized!

Other than that wonderful experience, this was a pretty typical week.
On Saturday, because of New Years Eve, we weren't allowed to leave our
apartment after 5, which was kinda lame (but made lots of sense).
Elder Hunt and I were excited though because with the New Year marked
the end of our "black year" (the full year that Elders are on their
mission), so that's pretty snazzy!

Another "fun" thing that happened is that on Thursday, (this email is
kinda all over the place. Chronological order? What's that?) we were
able to get in contact with the Ameyaws, a less active family in our
Ward that we'd been trying to get in touch with for a little bit. We
had a really good meeting with the husband and shared a video about
the New Year and setting goals with the help of Heavenly Father (if
y'all haven't seen the video "New Year's: Look Not Behind Thee" I
would highly recommend it. It is very good!) and then we spent the
next 40 minutes listening to him talk about how if Iran gets nukes,
that they will "wipe Israel like a dish and turn it over" according to
some prophesy in the Old Testament. So that was fun...

Let's see... I have church at 1 now, that's cool. Now I don't have to
wake up super early for Ward Council! And I'm about out of things to
talk about so I hope you all have a wonderfully fantastic week! I love
you all!

Sincerely,
Elder Sam Williams
