Meetings, and Temple and Stuff (Oh My!)

Greetings everyone!

This week was certainly interesting, that's for sure! Though
unfortunately, it meant that not a ton of work got done in the area.

Thursday, we had Zone Conference, which talked a lot about teaching
investigators for shorter blocks of time more frequently to help them
stay on track. Which honestly makes a lot of sense and I hope to be
able to apply it to my area. After that, we had to run to the urgent
care because Talbot had messed up his thumb earlier in the week and
the mission doctor told him that he needed to get it checked out. No
worries, Talbot isn't going to die, but we did have fun telling people
at the conference that he was a leper due to the appearance of his
thumb.

Friday, we were able to go to the temple! Due to the fact that we had
to walk from the nearest metro stop to the temple and back, it ended
up basically being an all day affair, but I seriously am so grateful
for the opportunity that we had to do so! Since we are now only able
to go to the temple about half as much as we used to, any and every
opportunity that we have to go worship there is greatly appreciated! I
love the temple so much and gain so much spiritual strength from being
there!

Saturday, we had interviews with President and Sister Johnson, which
went really well. President told Talbot and I both individually that
he is goi to keep us together at least one more transfer in Capitol
Hill, which I am super excited for because Talbot is awesome and we
get along really well!

Sunday was my 18 month mark, which is crazy to think that I've been
out this long! (If I was a Sister, I'd be done by now, just sayin').
Sunday was also fast and Testimony meeting, which was a very different
experience, to say the least. So to start, whenever anyone goes up to
the pulpit and says "good morning" everyone in the congregation
responds with a "good morning" back. So that's cool. During this
meeting though, we had a woman come up and sing The Lord's Prayer to
the tune of Ave Maria, a man (who's name is, no joke, Tyrone) come up
and offer a prayer (for his testimony, mind you) during which he
blessed literally everyone and everything you can think of. The saying
among missionaries in the Ward is that if you ever forget to bless
your food before you eat, don't worry because Tyrone has probably
blessed it already. So that was fun. After that and a few other
testimonies, a woman came up and bore her testimony on how much she
loved everyone else's testimonies. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is
a pretty typical Sunday in the Capitol Hill Ward!

That's all from me this week! I love you all! Have an amazing week!

Sincerely,
Elder Sam Williams

1. One of the perks about serving in Capitol Hill is that we get to
pass by here every week on the way to Ward Correlation meeting.
