Instead of a creative salutation, I will begin with alliteration and
the musings of my almost 19 year-old brain:
When I first heard of the Suitland Zone, I thought that it meant that
everyone here wore suits at all times. Or maybe just everything was
made of suits. Sadly neither of these are true, nor are there all that
many suits here in general. I therefore redub this place: Land Zone
(fitting as it is by far the largest zone land-area wise)!
Now that I've gotten that off my chest, on to my week!
We were snowed in on Monday. Tuesday, we had interviews with President
Cooke. After interviews, I went on exchange with the elders in the
Capitol Ward, which was pretty fun. For our dinner appointment, we got
to go on to Andrews Air Force Base, which was pretty awesome!
On Wednesday, I got to milk a goat! We went over to the Hale's for
dinner and to practice a musical number for their son's baptism (he
asked us to do the sign language/sing the primary song "Gethsemane"
with him). While there, we had the opportunity to milk the
aforementioned goat (picture included).
Friday morning, we met a woman named Monica (pronounced Monique-a) who
is good friends with one of the members of our Ward. Her daughter had
passed away a few months ago and that has caused her to wonder more
about what comes after this life. The Ward member had been talking to
her about the church and convinced her to meet with us. We shared the
Plan of Salvation with her and she told us that she is interested in
hearing more about the church. I'm super excited to continue working
with her to help the Spirit teach her about how she can live with her
family forever!
Why I Believe was yesterday. The speaker was Fiona Givens, a former
language professor in Virginia and theologian. She gave an amazing
talk about many of the precious truths that were restored because of
the Restoration. I'm so grateful for the restored gospel and the plain
and precious truths that were restored to us with it. I'm thankful
that we have a loving Heavenly Father who cares for us and wants us to
return back to Him and that through Christ and His Atonement for us,
we are able to rise above our sins and afflictions and do just that! I
know this church is true and I'm honored to be a part of this great
work!
I love you all! Have a great week!
Sincerely,
