Hello everyone!
This week went by way too fast! I feel like the weeks just keep going
faster and faster!
On Tuesday, we were able to meet with Omosayin again and he continues
to be super awesome! I'm very excited for his baptism next week! It
should be amazing! He truly has been prepared to receive the gospel
into his life and I'm excited to see how the Lord will bless him for
it!
Friday, we had interviews with President and Sister Johnson, during
which we talked about the Omosayin issue a bit (and apparently it is a
reoccurring problem throughout the mission right now, so at least
Elder Talbot and I aren't alone!) and it was overall a great set of
interviews. I also realized that this ha been my second to last
regular interview that I will have with them, which is CRAZY!
That evening, we were able to visit with Christiana again and teach
her the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It is amazing to see the difference in
her from the first time we met her several weeks ago to now! What's
even more awesome is that she was finally able to make it to church
yesterday and from what we could tell, she loved it!
Even better, yesterday was an area Conference for the entire America
Northeast area with talks from the area presidency and Elder Oaks. So
that was really cool and the Spirit was super strong! I know that God
truly does call prophets and apostles on the earth today to help us
come closer to Him!
Yesterday, we also were able to meet with Midrelle, a woman from
Cameroon who is a research scientist. She has some friends that are
members of the church up in Baltimore who have been inviting her to
have dinner with them whenever they'd invite the missionaries over for
dinner and also would take her to their Ward meetings. So she has had
some experience with the church and was very interested to hear what
we believe as a church and how reading the Book of Mormon can bless
her life. Her response to us reading Moroni 10:3-5 with her basically
summarizes how awesome she is. In her own words she said, "Well, that
means I have to read the Book of Mormon now! So you want me to read
the whole thing right?" We quickly clarifies that she could gain a
testimony of it before that point but that it would be awesome if she
did read the whole thing and that it would only serve to help her draw
even closer to Christ!
Long story short, this area is freaking awesome right now and I feel
so blessed to be a part of the amazing work that is going on here!
Today, we had District Activity! We went mini golfing and had a picnic
provided by Sister Mays of the College Park Ward (also known as the
sister who has all of the Elders that go to her house eat a scotch
bonnet). I mention the scotch bonnet thing because as a caveat to her
providing the meal, all of the elders had to eat one while the sisters
watched (they had the option of eating one, but none of them opted to
do so, which was probably smart). Elder Talbot got out of it because
of his traumatic experience with the last one he ate, but I wasn't so
lucky. The bad news is that was the third one that I've eaten out here
and it is still freaking hot. The good news is that mine wasn't
actually that bad! (Video included)
Well, that's about all from me this week! I love you all! Have a great week!
Sincerely,
Elder Sam Williams
