While we were at a member's house for dinner this week, their four or
five year old son looks at my companion, then looks at me and says,
"wow, you don't have very much hair". It was at this moment that I
realized that as the number of days I have left on my mission
decreases, the amount of hair on my head has been decreasing with it.
At this rate, my head will begin to radiate the light of the gospel in
a very literal sense...!
Anyways, hello again everyone and HAPPY MAY! This last week started
off on an amazing note as last Tuesday, Elder Talbot and I were able
to attend a session at the temple, which, as always, was amazing! I
really do love the temple a lot and while I am very sad that we
haven't been able to go nearly as much anymore over the past year, it
has made me appreciate the opportunity to go that much more! The
temple really is the House of the Lord and the place where we can feel
of our Heavenly Father's love for us most strongly! It was also really
cool/strange for me because I realized that the next time I attend the
temple will be about two weeks before I go home, which is really weird
to think about!
Thursday, we were able to visit with Omosayin again. When we got their
we discovered that he is still being poached by online missionaries,
which is annoying but not surprising. Nevertheless, we were still able
to have an amazing lesson with him and teach him about fasting,
tithing, and answer a bunch of questions he had from his lesson with
the aforementioned online missionaries. We were also able to set a
date for him to be baptized on the 21st of this month, which is super
exciting and we can tell that he is very ready to make his step in his
life and feel of the blessings of the gospel and he is very excited
for it as well!
Friday, we visited with Christiana again and taught her the Plan of
Salvation. She continues to be awesome as well and really has a desire
to learn more and find the truth, which is awesome to see!
That day, Elder Talbot also suffered his first ever battle with
seasonal allergies and as a result, he was pretty miserable for the
next few days (and is still a little under the weather, the good news
is that we now know that it is allergies and not a cold, which is what
we thought it was originally and are now treating it accordingly!)
On Wednesday and Sunday, we were also able to help our Bishop visit
with a less-active member of the Ward who has expressed interest in
returning to church and we have therefore been teaching her the
lessons, which has been a really good practice for us and has also
been really cool to see the Flame of the gospel be reignited in the
person! I know that the Gospel really does have the power to help us
change our lives and allow us to be blessed by helping us rely on
Jesus Christ and the knowledge of his sacrifice for us!
That's about all from me this week. I love you all! Have a great day
and a fantastic week!
Sincerely,
Elder Sam Williams
